  • School will be closed on Monday, September 5, for Labor Day
  • Monday, September 19, 6:00pm – Parent Advisory Meeting – All parents are invited to attend.
  • Monday, September 19, 7:00pm – Back-to-School Night. We hope that all parents will attend this important PTO meeting.
  • Saturday, September 24, 7:30-10:30am – Breakfast for Betty – I let you know last week about Betty Jones, one of our custodians, who is undergoing treatment for cancer. We are holding a fundraiser breakfast and auction for her on September 24. The auction will begin after breakfast at 10:30am. Auction items will include baked goods, jewelry, QuickCrete, household items, and a specially made quilt. We are asking parent help as part of this fundraiser. We are going to have a silent auction during breakfast for several themes baskets. We would like parents to help along with teachers, to fill these baskets. Each grade level has chosen a basket “theme” which is listed below. We would like parents to send an item for their child’s basket. Families with several children should not feel obligated to send several items. One per family would be great. We would appreciate any donation that you can make for these baskets. The themes are as follows:
    • Pre-K: Spa Basket
    • Kindergarten: Summer Fun Basket
    • 1st Grade – Fall Basket
    • 2nd Grade – Snack Basket
    • 3rd Grade – Movie Basket
    • 4th Grade – Eagles Football Basket
    • 5th Grade – Kitchen Utensils Basket
  • Tuesday, September 20, 5:00-8:00 – Sontag Dairy Queen Night at the 40 West Dairy Queen. A portion of sales during that time are donated to Sontag School. Also, the class with the most students represented will receive free ice cream. Please make plans to join us.

We have had a great beginning in large part because these children are so great. Thank you for your support.

Sincerely,

William D. Robey
Principal

Dear Parents,

The annual fall festival will be held on Friday, October 29. Dinner will be served from 5:30-7:00. The pizza plate (includes pizza, chips, cookie, and drink) is $2.50. (Extra pizza is $1.00 a slice). Nachos will be available for $1.00. Games will take place from 7:00-8:30. Game tickets will be sold from 5:45-8:00, 25ยข per ticket. Please make sure you will use all of the tickets that you purchase. No refunds will be given on purchased tickets. All elementary age and younger children can participate in a book “door prize” drawing. While at the Fall Festival, complete a form with your child’s name, address, and teachers name and place it in a special box. Throughout the night, names will be drawn, and that winner will receive a free book. The winning names will be posted outside of the office, and you do not have to be present to win.

The haunted house will open at 6:30pm because of the overwhelming response to the exhibit. The line for the haunted house will close at 8:15pm. Those already standing in line before 8:15pm will be allowed to participate in the exhibit.

The PTO Advisory Committee assisted me in assigning the following responsibilities for grade levels. Cookies should be brought to school either Wednesday afternoon, October 27, or during the day on Thursday October 28. Bags of candy should be brought to school by Wednesday, October 20, because it needs to be bagged for games. Drinks should be brought to school by Wednesday, October 27.

PreKindergarten & Kindergarten – Deli-style or homemade cookies

1st, 2nd, 3rd Grades – Bags of candy, Please purchase candy that is individually wrapped.

4th & 5th Grades – 2 or 3 liter soft drinks

We want to make improvements every year. I want to make sure that students are showing their best behavior this night. It is important that all students are with an adult. No child should be dropped off at the school or allowed to be unsupervised. Thank you for your help with this request.
